Ramadan majlis in Dubai are often known for their traditional settings and formal iftar gatherings. This season, however, Not A Majlis introduces a refreshing alternative, a laid-back social pop-up where the focus is on good company, games, and relaxed Ramadan evenings.
The concept takes over a cozy corner inside Tandoor Tina at 25hours Hotel One Central. Designed to resemble a comfortable Middle Eastern living room, the space features patterned rugs, low seating, and warm lighting that encourages guests to unwind and stay a while. Adding to the atmosphere are views of the nearby Museum of the Future.
Rather than the typical Ramadan buffet setup, Not A Majlis keeps things casual with comfort dishes and warm drinks. Expect favourites like burgers, pasta, coffee, and hot chocolate, perfect for a relaxed post-iftar meet-up or late-night suhoor gathering.
Entertainment is a big part of the experience. Guests can challenge friends to board games or backgammon, lounge on beanbags, or jump into gaming sessions on PlayStations with multiple controllers. Decorative touches such as glowing installations and fairy-lit elements add a playful Ramadan vibe to the space.
The pop-up comes from the team behind Not A Space, a concept originally known for serving coffee and desserts among the desert dunes of Al Faya in Sharjah. Previous editions of Not A Majlis have also appeared at Souk Madinat Jumeirah, gaining popularity for their creative spin on the traditional majlis.
Not A Majlis is open daily from 6:30 PM to 3:00 AM and runs throughout Ramadan, making it an ideal late-night hangout to gather with friends, play a few games, and enjoy the festive spirit of the season.
